New Bacteria-Killing 'Cryogel' Promises Safe Water Solution

A porous gel embedded with silver nanoparticles could be used to purify water in emergencies. Malaysian PhD student Siew-Leng Loo provided this video of the results of her team's research, showing the sponge-like gel being squeezed to release purified water. The gel sucks up the water again when the pressure is released.
